Thai Massage
at Home in Korea

Did you know you can get a Thai massage at home in Korea?

You can book a Thai massage without leaving home. At Seoul Outcall Massage, our therapists visit hotels, Airbnb stays and homes in Seoul and selected areas across Korea.

We offer Thai massage, Swedish oil massage, and a Signature course that combines the two. You can choose 60, 90 or 120 minutes for any of these courses.

What exactly is Thai massage?

Thai massage combines pressure with assisted stretching. During our Thai course, you wear comfortable clothing and no oil is used.

The therapist uses their hands and palms to press into the muscles, working through the shoulders, back, hips and legs. They apply pressure, release it, and move along each area of the body.

The stretching involves more movement. The therapist supports and moves parts of your body to help you stretch, rather than asking you to perform the movements yourself. Pressure and assisted movement are both part of the session.

We’ve included this YouTube video to give you an idea of how Thai massage is performed. It is from another creator and does not show our service. Watch on YouTube ↗

Our course generally begins with dry pressure, followed by assisted stretches, and finishes with lighter pressure. We explain the full sequence on our Thai massage course page. You can see what happens from arrival to the final stretches, including a short animated guide.

What can Thai massage help with?

Lower back pain, tight shoulders and stiffness are some of the problems researchers have studied. The findings suggest that Thai massage may help with certain types of muscle pain and restricted movement, particularly in the short term.

Lower back pain

Thai massage may offer short-term relief for some people with ongoing lower back pain. In a 2017 study of 120 patients, those receiving Thai massage reported less pain and less difficulty with daily activities after four weeks. The other group, which received joint mobilization, also improved.

The study concerned chronic, nonspecific back pain, meaning pain without an identified specific cause. It does not establish that massage treats a slipped disc or every kind of back problem. Read the lower back pain study.

Aching shoulders and tight upper back muscles

That sore, knotted feeling around the upper back has also been studied. A trial involving 50 people with painful muscle trigger points found that a 30-minute Thai massage reduced pain and muscle tension more than a sham treatment immediately afterward.

This is evidence for short-term relief of a particular type of muscular ache. The study did not establish how long that relief lasted. Read the upper back study.

A stiff neck and difficulty turning your head

In a study of 46 people with persistent pain in the upper trapezius, the muscle between the neck and shoulder, a specific form of traditional Thai massage was associated with less pain and improved neck movement. The exercise group also improved. These results suggest a possible benefit when muscle pain makes movement uncomfortable. Read the neck and shoulder study.

Knee pain and stiffness

A small trial of 60 people with knee osteoarthritis found improvements in pain, stiffness and function in the Thai massage group after three weeks of repeated treatment. The study also included herbal compress and medication groups.

These findings concern symptom relief in people with diagnosed knee osteoarthritis. They do not show that massage repairs cartilage or treats every cause of joint pain. Read the knee study.

These studies used specific treatment methods and schedules, so the same results cannot be promised from a mobile massage session. New, severe or persistent pain, or a swollen joint, should be assessed by a healthcare professional before massage.
